Trading Methods & Strategies

Different market conditions call for different trading approaches. Here are the most widely used methods in crypto trading.

Scalping

Scalping involves making dozens or hundreds of trades per day, capturing small price movements. Scalpers rely on high liquidity, low spreads, and minimal slippage. This method requires intense focus, fast execution, and typically uses high leverage. Most successful scalpers trade only during high-volume periods.

Swing Trading

Swing traders hold positions for days to weeks, capturing medium-term price movements. This approach relies on technical analysis — trendlines, support/resistance, moving averages, and momentum indicators. Swing trading requires less screen time than scalping but demands solid risk management to weather overnight volatility.

Position Trading

Position trading is a long-term strategy where trades are held for months or years. It ignores short-term noise and focuses on macro trends. Position traders rely heavily on fundamental analysis — project development, team strength, tokenomics, and market cycles. This method has the lowest time commitment but the highest conviction requirement.

DCA (Dollar Cost Averaging)

DCA involves buying fixed amounts of an asset at regular intervals regardless of price. This eliminates the need for market timing and reduces the emotional impact of volatility. While DCA may not maximize returns in a bull market, it is one of the most reliable methods for accumulating assets over time.
